Kamikaze Test Pilots are an alternative rock band, originating from Zimbabwe where brothers Ryan and Wes Niemandt grew up.
Relocated
The band was formed in 2005 in Zimbabwe but relocated to the United Kingdom where they were joined by bassist Simon Buckett in 2009.
The line up now consists of Simon Buckett (Bass/guitar), Wes Niemandt (Drums/vox) and Ryan Niemandt (Lead vox/guitar).
Kamikaze Test Pilots draw their influences from bands like System of A Down, Soundgarden, Clutch, The Melvins and Alice in Chains and have recently supported Nick Oliveri of Queens of the stone age.
Entertaining
The band’s sound is entertaining with a hard rock edge or, in their own words: “Kamikaze Test Pilots is, as the name suggests, a contradiction: a no-rules, non-conforming suicidal mesh of influences and a sound that reinvents itself with each new song”.
Kamikaze Test Pilots deliver a powerful rock sound with melodic vocals, chugging rhythm, guitars and searing solos that have already been played on BBC Introducing, Total Rock, Rock Radio Germany and Amazing Rock.
What the press say:
Metal Hammer – “A grooving and soulful approach to hard rock that’s aggressive and odd”.
Big Chees – “Totally bat shit crazy and I love it”
Rock City – “Different and worth checking out”.
Their self-titled album “Kamikaze Test Pilots” was produced by Bobby Bloomfield (50 Cent, Linkin Park, P Diddy ) and will be released on 11 May 2015 on Matchbox Recordings with distribution from Universal Music Operations.
Album tracks “Perseverance” and “Better Way” are destined for mainstream radio while the single “Dinosaur” is suited to alternative rock/specialist shows.
